Today, on 30 August in Elvis History

Elvis performed at the Memorial Stadium, Spokane, Washington. Elvis entered the stadium in a Cadillac through lines of police guards. He performed 18 songs.

Soundtrack recording began at 7:00 p.m. at Radio Recorders but was canceled after only a few hours when it became evident that due to a cold Elvis was having difficulty singing.

Elvis completed principal photography on Double Trouble.

While in the hospital Elvis received get-well calls from both President Nixon and Frank Sinatra.

Elvis performed at the University of Alabama Memorial Coliseum, Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
