Elvis performed at the Louisiana Hayride, Municipal Auditorium, Shreveport and the Billboard reported that the hottest piece of merchandise on the Louisiana Hayride at that moment was Elvis Presley, the youngster with the hillbilly blues beat.

Elvis ran out of gas in his new Cadillac Seville and was mobbed by fans. From the Louisiana governor Earl K. Long Elvis received the same rank as his manager, namely a Louisiana Colonel.

Elvis was host of another wedding. In his house in Palm Springs policeman Dick Grob was married. Elvis' gift was a new Cadillac.
