The funeral for the two Blackwood Brothers was held at Ellis Auditorium, and Elvis, Dixie and his parents were in the crowd.

Elvis performed at the Louisiana Hayride, Municipal Auditorium, Shreveport.

Elvis reported to the RCA studio at 2:00 p.m. where he recorded three songs: Hound Dog, Don't Be Cruel and Any Way You Want Me. This was the first time that Elvis took over full leadership of a session and he insisted on completing each song to his own satisfaction.

Elvis traveled to Nashville to record six songs for the soundtrack of Follow That Dream. After the session Elvis checked into the Anchor Hotel in Nashville before returning home to Memphis.
