Elvis had not given up the hope of recording for Sun Records and this day his prayers were answered. He got a phone call from Marion Keisker to try out the song Without You, but he failed to come up with a successful version of the song.

Elvis performed at the Slavonian Lodge, Biloxi, Mississippi, where he, Scotty and Bill opened the new club with air-condition to a sellout crowd.

Elvis performed at the Coliseum, Charlotte, North Carolina.

Very impatient Elvis got off the train in Lafayette, rented a car and drove the rest of the way to Memphis. This would be his first night in his new home.

Elvis gave the Colonel an electric golf cart for his birthday.

Elvis flew back to Los Angeles with Red West, Jerry Schilling, Marty Lacker and Charlie Hodge, because his bus needed a new engine. The others had left a few days earlier, driving Elvis' new black Cadillac Eldorado convertible and several other cars plus a trailer full of motorcycles.
