Elvis went to the Nola Studio at 12:30 p.m. for a rehearsal. At 4:00 p.m. he went to the CBS Studio. Elvis performed at the Stage Show, CBS Studio, at 8:00 p.m. With Heartbreak Hotel storming up the national charts, Elvis was allowed to make his own song selection and included both the new single and Blue Suede Shoes.

Elvis went shopping at Pop Tunes and got a haircut at Jim's Barber Shop downtown.

Elvis had to remain in the hospital and the remainder of the paid-up studio time was given over to James Burton, who used the session band to record a solo album for A & M Records.

The first tour of this year started with some confusion. Glen Hardin resigned and Burton and Tutt indicated that they would leave as well. At the last minute Burton returned, the others were replaced. Elvis performed at the Freedom Hall Civic Center, Johnson City, Tennessee.
