Elvis filed his first federal income tax return. His job classification was checked off as "semi-skilled" and his return showed income of $129.74 from M. B. Parker and $786.59 from Precision Tool, with no deductions or exemptions.

Elvis and his party traveled from Washington to Memphis by train. Throughout the trip Elvis appeared on the observation platform at every station and waved to the crowd.

Principal photography for Roustabout began at the Hidden Valley Ranch north of Los Angeles. Througout the filming Elvis would work at various locations around the city.

Elvis reported to United Artists to meet with the producers and director of Clambake. In the evening Elvis recorded vocal overdubs at the Annex Studios.

Elvis performed at the Garrett Coliseum, Montgomery, Alabama. This show was attended by Governor George Wallace.
