Elvis performed at the Eagle's Nest, Memphis.

Elvis performed at the WRVA Theater, Richmond, Virginia at 2:30 and 8:30 p.m.

Hank Garland, a 26 guitar player, who had been working in Nashville signed on as Elvis new guitar player and Vernon Presley sent Scotty and Bill their final payment. Their resignation was accepted as of September 21.

Elvis spent his last night before leaving for the army in Killeen with Vernon, Anita, Eddie Fadal, Lamar Fike, Gene and Junior Smith and Red West. There were also some fan club presidents present. It was an emotional night.

Elvis visited an ophthalmologist in Palm Springs.
